The U.S. Department of Justice will award competitive grants of up to $150,000 to Weed and Seed Communities to support efforts to fight crime, drugs and gangs.
Grants of up to $750,000 are now available to government agencies under the Second Chance Act Youth Offender Reentry Initiative, which fund demonstration programs designed to promote community reintegration of juveniles released from prison, jail, and juvenile facilities
Reclaiming Futures, a model program that helps youths involved in the criminal-justice system access addiction treatment and other services, will be expanded to three more communities thanks to a new, $2.3-million grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The Obama administration plans to establish a $50-million social-innovation fund intended to leverage corporate and foundation support to expand innovative nonprofits.
